Brown Girls Brunch

Walking into the event space for the Brown Girls Brunch event, I was immediately greeted with a cloud of warm energy, beautiful brown faces, and an aroma of food that I knew off TOP was going to be exactly what I had been craving from a good brunch!

Also, knowing that I am in a room surrounded by BLACK women who are all working just as hard as I am to walk in their purpose and achieve their goals somehow provided an immediate connection of wanting to talk and get to know one another. It’s dope to witness humans want to interact, and fight through whatever natural hesitation may be there and open up! That’s the type of energy I love.

As the creator of Brown Girls Brunch, Melanie Blake, gave her introduction speech, I found that her purpose in hosting this event was to build her own table. She stated she wanted to host this event for people who are in their careers, & who also may be growing as an entrepreneur and make sure it’s understood that WE are seen, and celebrated! Letting the world know that we are here, and we are not stopping!

The gems that were dropped during this event were priceless. There were a number of guest speakers that provided free game on topics ranging from business credit, credit repair, corporate homes, group homes, skin care, commercial real estate, and marketing. Honestly, that list barely scratches the surface.

I will most definitely go on record and say by the looks, and most importantly, the feeling of things, Melanie’s goal was achieved. This is an event that Melanie is looking to host annually, and with her accomplishments on the 1st Annual Brown Girls Brunch, this is sure to be the hottest brunch event in Houston, TX!
